Whatever It Takes

The teacher glared at Hosoko. "You two can make up. You're not in Kindergarden any more, much less Elementary school." With that, the bell rang for the first class. Hosoko was one of the first people out, with his head down and his books by his side.

Zako was angry at the teacher now. Hosoko was going to see his hands, and tell everyone. Zako walked out of the classroom, going the opposite way of Hosoko. What was he going to do?

Hosoko glanced behind him and saw Zako going the other way. He let out a sigh. He wasn't good at touring people anyway.

Zako walked over to his locker. He took out some gloves from his backpack, and put the on. Hopefully no one would notice the glove tried to hold his hand inside. He turned to look at Hosoko, and saw Hosoko glance at him. His eyes turned red once again, so he ran to his next class.

Hosoko felt someone pat his back. Except it wasn't much of a pat. Hosoko cringed and looked behind him. It was a brown haired boy, who was a bit taller than him by a few inches. "That was pretty brutal wasn't it?" he asked. Hosoko smiled nervously (again). "Y-Yeah. I don't think anyone's ever been that frustrated with me."
"What did you do?" the other boy asked. He had a puzzled look on his face. "I only know a few people who have anger issues, but nothing like that."
Hosoko shrugged. "I really don't know." He sighed again. "It was scary.."
The other boy stuck his hand in front of Hosoko. "Oh right. My name's Kazuki. Nice to meetcha.."
"Hosoko." Hosoko finished, but he didn't take Kazuki's hand. Instead, he smiled, and kept walking to his next class. Kazuki followed him. "Where are you headed?"
Hosoko pulled out a sheet of paper. "Ummm.. Gym."

When Zako got to his next class, he was surprised to see Hosoko there. He walked up to where all the boys sat, but sat farthest away from them. The gym teacher didn't seem to introduce Zako, which was good. For him. Hopefully gym wouldn't be as bad as his first class was.

Hosoko saw Zako walk in. [Insert facepalm please] He didn't wave or greet him in anyway. Hopefully Zako didn't even know he was there. He just wanted to finish 10th grade without getting into any stupid drama.

Zako saw Hosoko facepalm. He glared. "I should be the one doing that," he thought, but suddenely couldn't speak. Could Hosoko have made him THIS angry?

The gym teacher stood in the middle of the gym. He started shouting so everyone would calm down.

Zako was surprised at the gym teacher. He glanced at Hosoko and the other kids, to see how they reacted.

Hosoko stared blankly at the teacher. He was one of the few he wasn't actually yelling at.

Zako saw everyone's expression. They must've been used to it, since it was the middle of the year.

That's when he started the warm ups. "Attendance count!!" he shouted. Everyone moved to the gym floor (except Zako?) and stood about a foot apart.

Zako didn't know what they were doing. He just sat there for a minute, but then he followed, still sitting away from everyone.

The gym teacher spotted Zako. "Up on your feet soldier! We don't have no time to be lazing around!" He turned to the rest of the students and blew his whistle. "Down! Up! Down! Up!"the teacher repeated. He watched as the students dropped to the ground and pulled themselves up.

Zako copied, not knowing how this was supposed to help human beings/mortals when they got older. His hands began to turn normal, so not long after he took the gloves off.

Zako's forehead started hurting suddenly. The gym teacher looked to Zako. "Soldier! Continue!" Zako looked at the gym teacher painfully. "Wow, you look hurt. Gol take a break on the bench, boy!" Zako walked to the bench at the side of the gym. He held his forehead in his palm, and watched Hosoko do his push-ups. Painlessly. His forehead slowly got better. The gym teacher called him back in. He blew the whistle. "Alright! Today, we are going to be playing dodgeball! Positions, everybody! West, east! West east!" He called the people to their teams. Zako and Hosoko ended up on East. "Ok! The west team is Angels. The East is Demons." Zako followed Hosoko to see exactly where to stand, as the gym teacher said directions.

Hosoko looked around and heard other students groaning, and others cheering. The East kids went to the East wall and the West kids went to the west and stood side by side. Hosoko went over to his team, and watched about 15 people go to the center of the gym and line up the balls in the center. Oh, how he hated dodgeball. He could just imagine the pain in his cheek once one of those balls decided to make contact. As the kids in the center started running back to their teams, the coach blew his whistle. One of them tripped and fell on their face. He looked up once and saw everyone running to get a ball before being pummeled by the other team. Hosoko was doing a fairly good job, hiding, dodging and blocking himself, before he was hit in the back and called out. He went to sit on the bleachers with the other kids who were already hit.

Slowly, all the players walked to the bleachers, and it was only Zako left on the Demons' team. He looked around, and there was only one left on the Angels' team. It was the best dodgeball player in the state, perhaps even country. He was a real bully, so for most it was hard to beleive he was on the Angels' team. Zako held a ball in his hand, tossing it up and down, still confused with the game. The other boy held about ten balls in his muscular arms. Zako sweat. Then the boy started throwing balls that were real fast. Zako ran back and forth, jumping, not caring about losing, just not wanting to not get hit. Soon all the balls were left on Zako's side, where Zako was holding just one single ball, that was now bouncing up and down in his hand. He looked at it, then looked back at the boy. He smiled evily, then threw the ball faster than any ball anyone had ever thrown in dodgeball. That ball hit that boy right smack in the nose, which was not a good thing. He was sent to the doctor's nearby the school. Zako felt bad after being sent out of P.E. for the rest of the week. He walked down the hall, with a crowd following him, asking how he did it; He was quite annoyed, and finally turned around, with his hoodie on. "I simply threw a ball, tried hard, that's pretty much it." he held up his hands shrugging. "Now, STOP FOLLOWING ME." He ran down the hall and turned more than he needed corners, until he was shure he lost the crowd. Then he tried to find his way back to the showers.

Hosoko left the gym and walked back to the locker rooms, trying to rub his sore back. Whoever got him out, got him good. It was probably that stupid kid who got hit in the nose. Who was that anyway? He didn't remember him at all. Maybe he was another student like the Zako one. Maybe they came from the same school? He walked into one of the empty stalls and turned the water on.

Taking a right after going to his locker, Hosoko strode into the classroom. He felt much better after gym than before and during. Placing some books on one of the desks in the back, he saw Kazuki waving to him from his seat in the middle of the classroom. Hosoko picked up his books again and sat down in the desk beside him.

"Is he in this class too?" Kazuki asked, watching the door.

Hosoko sorted his papers out in his binder. "Who are we talking about again?"

"The one who broke that other guy's nose in Dodgeball."

Hosoko looked up at the door. "I don't think so." I hope not, anyway.

Kazuki looked back at Hosoko. "He's kinda scary if you ask me. I don't really want anything to do with him. Not that I'd back down if he wanted to fight."

Hosoko laughed. "Don't try to save your reputation now. You already admitted you were scared." The teacher walked into the class, but there was still 3 minutes before class started.

3 minutes passed and Zako found himself at the right room. He sighed in releif, because he had been wandering around a while with no success. He walked in and saw Hosoko. He tried not to stare and sat at the side, where the window was, about 3 seats down from Kizuki. He looked down so no one could see his face but just his jacket. He looked out at the teacher once to see what she was doing. She seemed pretty frustrated, shuffling through her books, opening files, clicking pens. He reached into his desk and pulled out a mirror. He looked at himself. He was still formed human. He put the mirror back, and looked at the other kids opening their large books. He pulled out the same book, and opened to the page as everyone else. The lady teacher was strict, and yelled at the kids constantly. One of them asked a stupid question, whom which was now doing 20 sit-ups. She looked at Zako, and glared.
"Take off your hood! NO HOODS IN SCHOOL, young man!"
Everyone looked at Zako, and he slowly took it off. Everyone laughed as he revealed his ponytails. He looked away and his eyes flashed red. Eeven the teacher laughed.
"I thought you were a BOY student!" she giggled. Zako got angrier. He got up and asked to be excused for the bathroom. He got there and looked in the mirror.
"Why...why me..." he said quietly, putting his hood back on. He walked back to class as slow as possible, just as long as he was walking. Finally he got there, and looked through the glass of the door. He found 13 people doing random excercizes in the corner, for which he knew they probably did not do much. 1 of those people was Hosoko. He walked in, and nobody laughed this time. Everyone had their noses directly in their books. He was glad, as he sat in his seat.

"Stupid teacher, thinks she owns some sort of gym," he mumbled under his breath. Only 17 more to go. Fortunately, he was pretty good at sit-ups. Unfortunately, he didn't have time in class to study. He watched Zako walk back into the classroom. He hasn't laughed. The first time or now. It wasn't even that funny, really. Maybe cuz he was used to this kind of treatment, though not as harsh. Some jerk of a teacher she was. She could get fired for that, if anyone told the principal. Or the person who employed her. Whoever that was. Hosoko closed his eyes and tried to memorize the problems and see the numbers in his head. Only 10 more to go.

Zako ended up in the corner, too, after answering a question wrong. He was annoyed, because this was the stupidest reason for a punishment. He watched Hosoko do his last sit-up and leave. Then he watched Kizuki finish his jumping jacks. Zako was also assigned jumping jacks. The teacher paid more attention to the people in the corner than what she was supposed to be doing (teaching) itself. That's what annoyed Zako, that he knew she was watching him. Intently.

The teacher picked up her mug and took two long sips before looking back at Zako. Quite the emotional one, yet so strange. They just get more and more immature every year. Back to the problems, she screeched at another student for getting a question wrong. The green-eyed ginger went to the back of the room to start her push ups, cursing the whole walk there. The teacher didn't give her any more exercises, but only watched her struggle under her punishment.

Hosoko started to drift off from class, seeing as how half was gym all over again. He pulled out another journal and scribbled some words in there, sometimes adding a fitting doodle, like a guitar, or a star. He made sure to keep looking up at the teacher so she wouldn't be suspicious, then went back down to his journal.

Zako finished his excersise and looked at Hosoko, doodling in his book. He was annoed that Hosoko didn't get in trouble for this, but he'd got in trouble for answering a question wrong. He walked back into his seat, when the bell rang. Class was finally over. Zako quickly left the room and ran down the hall
